For the Ladies - Five ways to make a man smile...

Touch his hand or arm: During a conversation there are several ways to let a man know you are into him and/or what he's saying. Physical touch is a great way to do this. This is a safe non-sexual gesture that will surely make him smile and let him know he has your attention.
Give him a very specific compliment: When I'm talking to a woman its always nice to hear the "common" compliments like "you are funny, silly, handsome." But meaningful compliments are the ones that make him feel "big." For example, a female once told me "I like the way you say 'hey' whenever you hear my voice." Or recent someone told me, "I can see that those hours in the gym has been paying off."
Send a random text message: Now this is one of my favorites. I actually do this one myself if I'm interested in a lady and I want her to know she was on my mind. It makes a man feel good to get an unexpected text from a special lady JUST to say hello or "thinking about you." If he wasn't daydreaming about you before, he is now.
Receive gifts from him with excitement: No matter what it is, find a way to show him you are excited that he thought about you. This will make a man want to keep making you smile.
Ask him a question about something he knows a lot about: We men LOVE sharing our knowledge, especially to women. We like showing off. We have that ego thing that needs to be stroked every now and then. Just make sure you look interested or he won't enjoy sharing it and the purpose of the whole question will be defeated.

For the Men - Five ways to make a woman smile

Chivalry: Be a gentleman at all times, even if she's not used to it or not expecting it. Open her doors (especially car doors...in and out). Pay for dinner (or at least be prepared to pay for dinner even if she asked you out). Respect her body and personal space, especially on a first date.
Random text messages: I love this little simple way of saying "I'm thinking of you." Be mindful that inflation leads to devaluation so don't do it too much.
Wash her car: Women usually pay a detail shop to wash their car. If you offer to wash it or even to take it to get it washed, it will go a long way. And really, you should look for opportunities to offer assistance when she needs a "man" to do something, like putting a desk together or hooking up her dvd player.
Compliment something that is not typical: She probably already knows she's beautiful. But if she has on some nice shoes, tell her. If you know she has a new hair do, compliment her on it. If she has on a new pair of earrings, let her know you notice. You have to be attentive to do this one.
Make her laugh: Obviously if she is laughing then she is smiling, but thats not really the point. The point is to make her laugh now so when she thinks of you later she will smile. Making her smile just by thinking of you is the goal.

BONUS: Watch HGTV with her while talking to her on the phone: Of course this will only work for the women who like HGTV, but its a good way to make her feel good. This another one of those that will make her smile later when she thinks of you. Along those same lines, going shopping with her ONCE (thats about all you can probably take) will make her smile when she thinks of you.

There are a lot of other things we can do to make each other smile. I'm all about relational wholeness and restoring the JOY between men and women. Always be genuine and sincere. Chemistry is key. But sometimes chemistry is created as opposed to pre-existing. Don't ever forget that relationships are the essence of life. They are the main conduits by which love enters our lives. Enjoy each of these experiences. Yes, it is possible because its not about you, its about making him/her feel good...thats your motivation. This is a good way to practice for love because once you choose to love someone, all you do is give...just like God.
